Watched the trailer. It looks alright, but yeah the ghost are a bit weird, but not something I hate.

Agree with Nam on the black character. Ironic that a movie that actively wants to be progressive with their cast at the same time has a very old fashioned sense of thinking

@Nam – it’s a gender swap reboot and the black woman is a direct swap for the black man in the original, he wasn’t a scientist either.

Anyway, I’ll go look at the trailer so I can comment …

Oh … well, it’s not looking good is it. You expect the trailer to have the best bits in it, or at least *some* good bits, and since it’s a comedy, some funny bits, but … blah. It just left me cold. Either they have made a pathetic trailer OR this is not a funny movie.

There *ARE* good, funny, female comedians … why do they not appear to have cast any for this movie?

Well here’s a much better trailer

    Spider-Man 😀

Which is also disappointing. They could’ve made Leslie Jones a scientist while Kate McKinnon or someone else is the MTA worker. But IDK, it’s not a big deal, and Leslie Jones herself doesn’t care.

All these women are funny IMO. I love Kristen Wiig and Kate McKinnon is the funniest person on SNL right now (she is basically saving the show…).
But I did expect more clever comedy, so I was disappointed there. Some of the scenes felt too wild and stupid (like all of 21 Jump Street) and I expected more of a Bridesmaids-type comedy.

    Black Panther looks so good!

Being a reboot is no excuse to continue making the same questionable decisions.

Only one I know is McCarthy. She’s funny, but if the script is bad it won’t matter how funny an actor is. Just as Eddie Murphy.

It’s probably the script as well… Also why does it seem increasingly common to cast some bigger body size black woman to be the main comic relief in a movie like this?? When in reality it just seems really. really stupid…

I thought 21 Jump Street was pretty funny actually. Like the only Channing Tatum film I like

I’m also tired of the fat, loud-mouthed black woman stereotype.

Assuming that the main cast are talented then it’s either a fatally weak script or the world’s worst trailer maker.

I thought the two Jump Street movies were great too 🙂

Yeah that stereotype has been done to death…

My guess is a combination probably.

I hate the stereotype too. It’s gotten cheap. (which is why she should have been the scientist)

As for Captain America, some people are saying Iron-Man probably designed Spidey’s suit which makes sense.

I don’t know. Isn’t he just supposed to have been webswinging in NY for a while 😛 And his suit isn’t special. He just sows it himself 🙂 Unless IM made something special about this one. Or gave him a new one for this team up.

In the meantime Zootopia is getting rave reviews and now I suddenly want to watch it 🙂
I’m assuming it already won best animated film at next year’s Oscars.

We both went to see Zootopia, (not together weirdly enough,) and we both liked it. It was marketed as a children’s movie, but the message makes the actual movie seem aimed for an older audience in Brother’s opinion.

From what I hear it has a lot of parallels to what’s going on in society today. Prejudice, stereotyping etc.
Wouldn’t surprise me if it’s things that could go over the head of children a little bit.

The eyes on his suit move, so maybe there’s some tech-y thing going on. 😛

I officially hate the moving eyes on the suit. It works in animation but in Live Action it just looks stupid. Whatever ‘explanation’ they come up with it’s dumb.

Oh yeah didn’t notice the eyes before. Agree with FB, doesn’t really work. And the original suit looks better too.

I kinda hope we do get a techy explanation for why they move around like that. That would maybe help make it less silly.

How utterly stoned out of their minds were the writers and for that matter the Sony execs who gave this the green light

I actually laughed pretty hard… At how utterly stupid and bad this is but at the same time because of that I could probably sit through watching this movie…

Anyone watched Deadpool. I really liked it. A lot of fun. You could tell they just had fun with it. Colossus was awesome. He was such a boy scout, which was fun since he can turn into a giant unstoppable metal guy.

I liked that they gave out the r rating. Everything these days is pg13 to earn more money so it’s nice with something that just goes a bit crazy.

Tbh i think it’s one of my favorite x-men movies. Most of them are a bit depressing and dark. I liked how Deadpool had his actual red costume and Negasonic teenage warhead wore a yellow suit.
