    “much darker”
If it’s a repeat of ESB then ugh.
I’m glad it’s darker, and therefore probably more emotional, but it better not be a repeat of ESB.

As for Luke erasing Rey’s memory, who cares? She’s 5. If they just pretend she doesn’t remember then oh well. Remember that this is the same universe in which Leia remembered how Padme looked when she was born.

I think she was likely describing Bail Organas wife instead, Leia wouldn’t know if Padme was sad.

But im still going with what I said as the most likely answer

I’m fine with the next one being darker, it should be as I think Kylo is really going to change now.

At least they kept this movie very serious and are not going to transition from some light hearted joke adventure to a more serious plot line like TPM to AOTC

I think Leia knows she’s adopted. Just like Luke knew. When did Breha Organa die, anyway? Not when Leia was young, I don’t think.

There’s no way Leia was talking about Padme though unless GL didn’t have it planned out that Padme was to die in child birth and she was originally supposed to be with Leia for awhile

Well, GL didn’t even have the prequels written until 1994, so it is probably a mistake. But it doesn’t really matter.

Obi-wan left baby Luke with the boy’s own family. For Luke to leave young Rey to grow up as little more than a slave with complete strangers who don’t care about her at all seems uncharacteristic.

I think the old guy at the start was watching over her and was tasked by Luke to stay on Jakku.

Plus, Luke doing that IS out of character, right? Also him exiling himself, right? Which is why we shouldn’t be saying it’s out of character. Instead we should be asking, how bad did things go for him to go to such extreme, out of character measures?

Well I imagine Luke probably could have kicked all the Knights of Rens asses. Then go for Snoke but for some reason he decided to leave…

Except he didn’t. Instead, he exiled himself. So we need to learn more about the event.

I think jt’s safe to say that Leia memory of her mom is a mistake nothing more. GL didn’t have all the details set out from the start so mistakes were bound to happen.

I don’t think exile is out of character at all. Assuming he grew as a Jedi over the last 30 years I could definitely imagine him making a choice similar to Yoda or Obi-Wan.

Saw it today finally. If I’m honest it was a bit…mediocre.
The plot, as has been established, follows the same story beats as ANH and they weren’t at all subtle. Aside from originality, the only thing this film lacked story-wise was that Star Wars feel because most of the time it’s easy to forget you’re watching Star Wars. The new characters weren’t (depending on their allegiance) likable or threatening. Rey IS a Mary-Sue but I just find it funny some fans will go on about her but not someone like Ahsoka. Finn didn’t do very much besides get in the way. Kylo is a slightly less annoying AOTC Anakin. Snoke looks like Paul the alien. Phasma looks ridiculous and Hux is a crappy Tarkin. On a positive note the stormtroopers were so much better. And Chewbacca was, for the first time ever, my favourite character. The acting and dialogue were the standard — awkward or terrible.

I don’t think the acting and dialogue were bad at all. Probably an improvement over all of the SW films. (Except, of course, performances like Ian’s and Ewan’s) Both Daisy Ridley and John Boyega were great and Adam Driver played Kylo realistically I think.

Harrison was always really good for the character of Han Solo IMO, will be hard to see anyone else play that role…

Liam Neason did good as Qui-Gon, it’s the main reason why I find TPM watchable now days otherwise I’d get bored.

Boyega was very good, may have been over doing it in the opening sequence though.

Ian Mcdiarmid always did very good at Sidious. Peter Cushing did very good at Tarkin IMO.

I always found the acting in Star Wars to be pretty good. The exceptions being Windu, Padme and a few others in the prequels who were just given boring roles, bad dialogue or just miscast like Samuel L Jackson. Lucas tried too hard to get the big names in the prequels even if they didn’t fit the part that well.

And after the fact the actors knew that they weren’t right for the part but only where there because it was was Star Wars/ huge pay day. Samuel L Jackson and Natalie Portman admit this in interviews

Episode VIII delayed till 12/15/2017 I’m thinking that was their intended date all along. Just had to seem like they wanted to follow the May tradition. 😉

How is Samuel L Jackson not right for the part? He played Mace perfectly, the character just isn’t that likable.

Because Samuel L. Jackson is good when he is screaming BADASS MOTHERF*CKER. The whole wise senior Jedi council member thing is not his role, could have got like Morgan Freeman to play that part better IMO.

I think Sam Jackson did a good job. Jackson’s versatile to do more than the Tarantino stuff he best known for. I can’t see Morgan Freeman doing it. The wise part, yes, but he’s not imposing enough. He would play it too similar to Yoda.

No no no, Morgan Freeman would’ve had WAY too much of a presence to play Mace Windu. He would have to be someone like Yoda, like Zuma said.

I’m surprised, I never knew people also disliked Sam’s acting. But I don’t think it was bad. Mace isn’t an old wise Council member like Yoda anyway, he’s stern and no-nonsense and is known for his strength, which Samuel L Jackson played perfectly.

He was pretty boring but I guess that’s also because GL can’t write dialogue worth a damn

That’s mlre GL than Sam, yes. I think most of the actors did well with what they were given.
Sam never did anything to annoy me that’s for sure. Even though his duel with Palps dissappointed me a bit.

TCW showed the more of the real Windu and I’m positive that Sam Jackson couldn’t have played that if it had been live action.

New theory for Rey… How about Kenobi did have a daughter while he was in exile and that daughter would have been relatively the same age as Luke. Later she and Luke get together and they also have a child which is Rey. Lukes wife (Kenobi’s daughter) dies during Kylo and the Knights of Ren’s attack.

This would explain why Rey is so powerful if she is the off spring of two very powerful force users, her fathers side obviously being stronger because of Anakin.

That’s not that bad, but where the heck was Obi-Wan’s daughter in the OT?

They could probably come up with an explanation maybe she left with her mother or something and she didn’t complete her training with Obi-Wan

    I don’t like Obi-Wan having kids.
