This episode was actually one of the best in the show, probably by far one of the best for character development, not just in Rebels but also in TCW/ Movies as well if you want to put it up to comparison.

Sabine and Kanan where definitely very focused on and it made me like both of them a lot more. Sabine I kinda started to dislike a bit at some point in the show but that has changed after tonight.

So odd because there was no villain or enemy plot at all, yet they managed to create this very powerful episode.

Though I am not sure what that little Bendu thing was supposed to be, I mean I knew Sabine was leaning on him and he pops up briefly… kind of weird

Also the Jedi/ Mandalorian War from KOTOR is now canon again… they been making tons of nods to KOTOR in this show

Not exactly the exact same, but they ar definitely adapting it. Its been hinted at since the Clone Wars.

Really enjoyed that episode. I went into it went into it expecting a bit of development for Sabine and some standard Darksaber training but ending up with a lot of character development for Sabine, including some reveals about her family, and even some stuff in there for Kanan too. The relationship between Ezra and Sabine here was more like siblings which worked well for the theme of family they had running through the episode and was also just a good dynamic that worked for the two. Bendu’s cameo was a bit odd and had me expecting him to impart some wisdom but sadly he didn’t. I’ll be interested to see if the next episode keeps the strong emotional themes running through it as we finally get to head to Mandalore and meet Sabine’s family, who we’ve been drip fed information about since the middle of season two. Not sure how I feel about Fenn Rau’s new armour though. I mean it looks cool but I don’t see much point in it and it also cheapens the Mandalorians a bit as it feels a bit like one variation too many. It’s like what was said all the way back during Clone Wars season two when they first bought the Mandolorians in, they didn’t want to have too much variation because they didn’t want an army of Boba Fetts running around and taking away from the uniqueness that he had. I feel like him keeping his original Protector armour (especially in order to honour his fallen comrades) would’ve been a better choice.

The interesting thing is his armor isnt completely new. Its partially a style we’ve already seen. His older armor was a fighter pilot’s armor. This armor, on the other hand, shares many aspects with Satine’s personal guards. Perhaps both are based on an ancient style of Mandalorian armor. Look up some pics!

Very cool episode. Definitely one of the best of the show. And it finally gave us a deeper look at Sabine. It was nice to just get a simple focused episode without any Imperial threat of the week thrown in.
Agree with you that the Bendu thing was weird. If they do more with it it’s fine, but if that’s it it was a really odd part of the episode.

The entire thing was just lightsaber practice… Maybe there was a bit of “development” but I found it more cringey than interesting

Honestly season 3 is very disappointing for me

Kenobi just likes seeing things blow up… remember he likes Michael Bay

This was one of the best episodes in the Star Wars animated universe in all honesty I think.

So we got 6 episodes left in the season, we already got names a descriptions for 2 of them, figured I’d just try and predict the rest based off trailer footage.

    16. Legacy of Mandalore (February 18th): “Hoping to get her family to help the rebels, Sabine returns home with Kanan and Ezra, and finds herself embroiled in her family’s power struggle for Mandalore.” – Continuation of last episode, all of the Mandalorian specific trailer stuff will be here.

    17. Through Imperial Eyes (February 25th): “Fearing that the identity of a rebel spy will soon be discovered by the Empire, the Rebels launch a plan to rescue him before he is caught.” – This has to be Kallus, it’s been hinted that Thrawn is closing in on him. Trailer has part with Thrawn and death troopers talking about Fulcrum.

    18. (March 4th): Part where Mon Mothma talks to Bail is probably this episode, likely we will finally see all the cells come together in a unified alliance. Preparing for the large fight in the trailer.

19/20 (March 11th) or (March 18th): I’m thinking this could be a two parter as well, the stuff with the giant battle and the Rebels evacuating their base.

21/22: (March 25th) Almost certainly a two part finale, I’m betting it will be the end trailer footage with Maul and Obi-Wan. The start of the trailer where Ezra is looking for Kanan and Obi-Wans message is playing is probably the beginning on the finale.

I don’t think the rebels will unify until after the Attolon attack.

I disagree, check out the trailer again if you haven’t seen it in awhile.

The Rebels have been talking about getting multiple cells together for a join attack on Lothal for awhile.

Governor Pryce says to a Tarkin “a join rebel attack is unprecedented”. Thrawn says “They have revealed their defenses, this is exactly the moment I’ve been waiting for”.

Looks like they will unify, try to strike and then get counter attacked by Thrawn

Looks like it’ll be an uninterrupted run to the end of the season when it starts back up:

March 4th – Secret Cargo: When a routine refueling mission goes wrong, the Ghost crew find themselves transporting an important rebel leader across the galaxy, pursued by Imperial warships.

March 11th – Double Agent Droid: Chopper and AP-5 team up to infiltrate an Imperial station to steal needed codes, but an Imperial specialist turns the droids against the crew to cause chaos.

March 18th – Twin Sons: Reacting to a vision of Maul, Ezra defies Hera and Kanan to travel to a remote planet in hopes of stopping the former Sith lord from carrying out his plans.

March 25th – Zero Hour Parts One and Two: In final preparations for their attack on Lothal, Phoenix Squadron’s plans are disrupted when Grand Admiral Thrawn discovers their location. Trapped on Atollon with the rebel base under siege, Hera and Kanan fight to keep the squadron alive, as Ezra attempts to rally help from an unexpected source.

I’m assuming the important Rebel leader is Mon Mothma. Double Agent Droid is in the same episode slot as The Forgotten Droid was last season and has a similar premise and I enjoyed that episode so hopefully this’ll be good too. Twin Sons is obviously Maul v Obi-Wan but hopefully not the last of Maul we see in the series given that it’s only a one-parter and I think he deserves a grander exit. Personally I’d prefer for him to meet his end against Vader. And then Zero Hour seems to not feature the Lothal attack they’ve been planing all season unless it’s only gonna be a short one which I’d prefer for it not to be. Maybe that’d be an appropriate premiere for next season instead. Never the less looking forward to seeing how it all ends.

There is not going to be a Lothal attack… well… not a successful one.

I’m pretty sure Thrawn will ruin that plan.

Fucking get rid of Maul. Stop shoving him at us all the time.

He’s a pretty weak character anyways tbh, and his Clone Wars role was so pointless since he was set up to fail. His biggest rivals like Sidious, Dooku, Kenobi and other Jedi have plot armour that they have to survive.

Mauls only purpose is cool fights

Maul is used a plot device for our characters (Obi Wan, Ezra).

The animation for the environment is really nice in that clip. And SW rarely ever shows us mother-daughter relationships so this is interesting.

I think she’s next season, there’s been rumors about season 4 development, Kanan voice actor said they already started work on season 4 back at the start of the current season.

Given the timeline, season 4 can probably be the expected last season.
