You’re right that does sound terrible. That’s why they went with the main saga characters. Just like they’re pulling in TCW characters into Rebels.

I’m looking at it on a different level not so much story but the real world business end. I would love to know what goes on in the offices at Disney/Lucasfilm. Is Filoni bucking the higher ups by putting in “his” characters when it was painfully obvious that they wanted the OT cameo-palooza and the lets “move on” as JAT said to me at SWW. Do the higher ups get POed when he does but know if they bounce him that would be a PR nightmare. Just would love to be the proverbial fly on the wall at DLF.

But Rebels is in a unique spot story wise as you can’t really use the OT characters. Lando was a neat cameo, I guess Han is possible perhaps after the spinoff movie whoever they get as the actor could make a cameo in the show as Han. I don’t think Cham being in the show is bad at all as you got to remember that Cham is Hera’s father.

I’m not sure, Rebels is the most popular show on Disney XD so from Disney’s perspective I imagine whatever keeps it that way and if they’re making a profit on it then hey they’re coming out on top.

I like that DF is at the helm not just because of TCW but because he is a big EU fan and he is constantly brining things even small ones back into canon which is nice.

Lots of pictures of Rebels Maul in toy form, they’re the last 4 pictures in the album there.

The double bladed saber is cool and apparently he’s called the “Red Avenger”, sounds like some Fulcrum kind of deal Ahsoka had

Red Avenger… Old Master… why are these names so cheesy…

Of course DF found a way to add Numa to the show 🙂

Maul looks really good though, if he looks like that in the show which I assume so since Sabine looks indentical then he’s the best looking character by far.

His light saber has a little scythe on it which is weird but kind of cool.

I doubt Red Avenger is the name he picked… But wait what if Ahsoka dies and then Maul joins the Rebellion? That’s actually kind of genius as nobody will know who he is and now he has a chance to build another base of power. “Red Avenger” is a rebel type name IMO.

Except Maul could never build a base of power in the Rebellion – they’re not thugs.

He can manipulate them for sure as Palpatine did with the Republic.

And Maul could probably just kill everyone in the Rebellion if he wanted to.

which is why I’d hate it if he joined

Not to mention how it would create a scenario so easy for him to kill off everyone. I suspect he’ll be playing a more low key role, since he’s already tried a more public attempt at gaining power and we all know how that ended…

He never really went public, only a few know of his revival.

It makes sense though the Rebels goals are in line with his own. He wants Sidious dead and if he succeeded with the Rebels that probably would make him in a posisition to gain lots of power

This preview looks really cool actually. Maybe it will be like when Dooku had to work with Anakin and Kenobi

The preview looks all right. Hopefully Zeb alone with Kallus will help get rid of his annoying “goofy” traits that he usually has when he’s around Ezra or Chopper.

I hope Kallus dies, he doesn’t have a use anymore

Same here. Heck Zeb too, but I know that won’t happen.

Zeb still has some purpose IMO especially if Ahsoka dies. However Kallus has failed a lot and with Vader taking more of a role I don’t think Kallus should be around, he should either go back to Lothal or Vader executes him for failure.

I kind of liked having clone wars character at first but I don’t really want them anymore… I want the show to have more characters specific to this era then picking up all the clone wars dead beats that just don’t belong. Ahsoka doesn’t really belong, Maul 100% does not belong but I am interested in seeing what his plan is but Maul didn’t belong in TCW either…

Rex I can live with, he’s just a soldier and Cham is Hera’s father so that’s perfectly reasonable to have him make a cameo.

Zeb has just never done anything for me. He feels like pointless comic relief. At least Chopper sometimes does stuff for the mission. Every other character has had moments where they’re likeable, but Zeb pretty much always been annoying.

Honestly right now TCW call backs are a big reason I’m watching. I think Ahsoka and Rex add a lot to the show, but I wish they would appear more often. I would also make this whole time period feel bigger.
But yeah Maul is just weird and shouldn’t really be here.

The only reason the show has become remotely interesting to me is because of the TCW elements… still not watching it though

I won’t be sad at all when they kill Ahsoka and Maul. Ahsoka actually seems kind of pointless since she’s likely going to die and didn’t do anything

I saw the new preview basically takes place right after the other

This looks like a good episode IMO

I think excluding Siege of Lothal this was the best episode of the season. I see they are once again keeping to the old canon with the Genosians being a major contributor to the Death Star construction.

I really liked the Saw reference, I wonder if he’s alive. Probably died in another cell but still I was thinking he would be a part of the Rebellion from day 1.

Kallus was portrayed really well and I think he may even defect to the Rebellion eventually… I think he was considering it this episode and the last scene with Kallus was obviously him rethinking his position in the Empire.

Well really looking forward to next week, “Shroud of Darkness” sounds cool.

Awwww, all Kallus wants is a friend.

But in all seriousness that was a strong episode. The whole Geonosis mystery going on in the background and then some of the best development we’ve had in rebels and it goes to Kallus of all characters. A pleasant surprise and I’m interested to see where he goes from here as up to this point he seemed a bit like an unnecessary hang over from the first series.

Agreed this was a good episode. Made Kallus a lot more interesting and now he doesn’t feel expendable anymore. It’ll be interesting to see where they bring his character going forward.
I loved the little call back to Saw on Onderon. It sounds like he’s made quite a name for himself in the galaxy based on the way Kallus talked about him. He seemed to assume Zeb would know him. It would be interesting to bring Onderon into the fold with this rebellion. Even cooler if Ahsoka was involved given her involvement in the Onderon arc.

Small note on the preview for next week. Kanan and Ezra’s team work by pushing each other with the Force when they’re fighting is already getting a bit annoying. It looks silly and not at all like something Jedi would do. They can propel themselves forward with the Force, so why have your partner do it and expose himself. Also a bit weird that Ezra looks like a complete equal to the Inquisitor’s now, when you compare to the way he was just pushed aside the last time.

These inquisitors suck and I don’t think Ahsoka is like Jedi master levels of good, the inquisitors are just expendable pawns I think. Not much of a real threat.

I like the team work we see with Ezra and Kanan, that’s the best use of Jedi teamwork we ever see really.

Kallus is a pretty strong character now and I liked the background story as well Hevy, Imps must have killed them for there involvement in the Death Star. The reason the Empire was on Lothal was for resources as well it seems

“Kanan, Ezra and Ahsoka return to the Jedi Temple on Lothal to find out how the Inquisitors have continually been able to track the rebels. Seeking the advice of Yoda, who is once again voiced by Frank Oz, the three will experience powerful visions that reveal the future, the past, and old friends long gone.”

This image is on the wookiepedia page for the next episode as well.

So Ezra will see Yoda, Ahsoka Anakin I guess and Kanan I think the Grand Inquisitor

About Disney splitting and selling season 2 in two different things, they lowered the prices to make up for it. It’s still cheaper then an entire clone wars season though I think.

But that still doesn’t explain how Kanan couldn’t handle them both a few episodes ago and Ezra didn’t even have a chance against one of them and now suddenly they look like equals.

This is why I like episodes with Ahsoka. The stuff she can tell about the Jedi Order are much more interesting than the things Kanan has to tell. It looks like it could be a great episode.
I wish Ahsoka would see Yoda too, that would be nice.

Makes sense. TCW was more expensive to produce so they can make the price reflect that.
