Clone Wars : Lost Missions – Order 66 and the nature of clones

March 9, 2014 in The Clone Wars by Firebird

Order 66

When Cody turned on Obi-Wan in Episode III it was sad but not heartbreaking because although it was disappointing it seemed like clones had been trained to put the Republic first and follow any legal order they were given. They were little more than flesh and blood droids. I know some people still cling to that view of them but for me The Clone Wars changed everything.

As the seasons passed and we saw more and more examples of clones as individuals, capable of disobeying orders, deserting, even betraying their brothers, it seemed less and less believable that they would all kill their Jedi Generals so cold-bloodedly. There had to be an explanation. We couldn’t believe that our favourite clones would be that heartless, that disloyal, surely some would refuse?

Clone Wars: The Revenge arc

After giving my thoughts on the Deception arc a couple of weeks ago, I decided to move on to the next arc, and the Season Four finale, the Revenge arc. It was the arc that bought back Darth Maul from the dead (which was quite a controversial decision at the time) and also continued the story of Ventress.

Clone Wars – The Deception arc

One of my favourite arcs from the whole of the Clone Wars. It comes from my favourite season, season four, and features Bounty Hunters and a bald Obi-Wan. So there’s a good start there. But a story doesn’t just need a good set up, it needs substance and great characters. Does it have that? Yes, an abundance of it.

First off, I want to say that this is definitely the must have for any Clone Wars fan who wants to have all their episodes in one place. That being said, aside from the exclusive art book, there really isn’t anything new about this box set in comparison to the other ones.

The Clone Wars Unresolved Destinies

November 22, 2013 in Guest Blogs, The Clone Wars by GuestBlogs

The last couple of weeks on Clone Wars Friday here at The Nexus Route we’ve been looking back at season five with reviews of this season’s Blu-ray release. The Blu-ray DVD release are as good as expected even with the lackluster “bonus” (why do I hate that word oh right the Disney thing) footage The Clone Wars animation is made for Blu-ray and is just amazing, a true work of art. Re-watching the episodes is both fun and disappointing. Seeing the great strides in story and animation that the show had made in its five seasons it’s sad that it was cut short before the full story could be told. So as we wait for the release of the EIFS6 early next year and what they might bring I thought we’d take a look at some of the characters that that have been left in cancellation limbo.

The Ahsoka arc

November 15, 2013 in The Clone Wars by Firebird

WrongJedi4

There are two ways to view these final four episodes of season 5. As we originally saw them, the end of season 5, or as they now are, the end of The Clone Wars.

Season 5 was pretty heavy on Ahsoka episodes and in hindsight I’m happy with that, although in an ideal world Rex, as the other main Clone Wars only character, should have also had some development even if there wasn’t time to explain his absence from Revenge of the Sith directly. At least we’ve got that for Ahsoka.

The Maul arc

The return of Darth Maul was almost certainly the most eagerly anticipated story of season 5, especially as it included the Death Watch. Since I’ve already blogged the separate episodes I’ll focus on the Blu-ray presentation and how they play as a single story.
