Why I think Reclamation is a hoax

April 14, 2013 in Star Wars by Firebird

I’ve been comparing thoughts with other members of this site on the ‘rumoured’ Star Wars animation project Reclamation. http://www.starwarsunderworld.com/2013/04/rumor-star-wars-reclamation-revealed.html My first gut reaction on reading it was, it’s a hoax, the work of a fanfic writer being passed off as real, but I thought I’d try to explain why I think that.

First, this little snippet from the OVERVIEW

“Besides again targeting children and young adults, we believe we can also appeal to the 18-49 demographic, by focusing on the ORIGINAL TRILOGY era characters and imagery.”

That doesn’t make sense does it? Surely young adults fall into the 18-49 bracket and The Phantom Menace came out in 1999, when any current 18 year old was a little kid. Why would Original Trilogy characters appeal to them particularly? It reads like someone thinks talking about demographics is something you have in a document like this but they don’t really understand them.

The PREMISE just plain doesn’t work. It’s trying to be a pitch for a show but it doesn’t read as one and the writing style is just … bad.

Reading on the whole top half of page 3 is so spectacularly BADLY written that it’s painful.

Sky Bonteri … seriously? That alone screams FANFIC so loudly that it’s pretty much unnecessary to look for any other evidence that this isn’t legit.

And then if you thought it couldn’t get worse we have Kala Calrissian and “her Talz sidekick Muffie” … MUFFIE? You have got to be kidding right?

A Mandalorian with “a bionic arm that morphs from blade to blaster” … someone has been watching too much Generator Rex haven’t they?

The Shade … please spare us!

Let’s assume for a moment that LucasFilm was employing someone who can’t write for toffee and get back to a logical flaw. Page 6 “SETTINGS”. If the document was real why would anyone scan this page and include it but NOT continue onto page 7? It makes sense if it’s a hoax because it suggests a longer document without the hoaxer having to invent any more content, for which I am supremely grateful given the quality of the proceeding four pages!

If this thing is not a fan written hoax then I truly despair for the future of Star Wars.
